Prilog

Privacy Policy

Your privacy is critically important to us. At Prilog we have a few fundamental principles:

  • We are thoughtful about the personal information we ask you to provide and the personal information that we collect about you through the operation of our services.
  • We store personal information for only as long as we have a reason to keep it.
  • We aim to make it as simple as possible for you to control how your journal information is shared publicly and permanently deleted.
  • We help protect you from overreaching government demands for your personal information.
  • We aim for full transparency on how we gather, use, and share your personal information.

This Privacy Policy incorporates and clarifies these principles and will be effective starting from December 03, 2024, followed by the detailed terms and conditions outlined below.

Who We Are and What This Covers

We're GemsCove Co. ("GemsCove"), the folks behind the Prilog application and its related websites (each, an "App" or a "Site", respectively). Through Prilog's App and Site, users can record their daily life and, if they wish, share it with others. Below we explain how we collect, use, and share information about you, along with the choices that you have with respect to that information.

Throughout this Privacy Policy we'll refer to Prilog's Sites, Apps, and other services collectively as "Services."

Information We Collect

We only collect information about you if we have a reason to do so — for example, to provide our Services, to communicate with you, or to make our Services better.

We collect this information from three sources: if and when you provide information to us, automatically through operating our Services, and from outside sources. Let's go over the information that we collect.

Information You Provide Us

  • Your Journal Entries: The journal entries created by users through Prilog are not collected or stored by us. Journal data is encrypted and stored on the user's device, and if synchronization is enabled, it is transmitted and stored in the user's cloud account with end-to-end encryption.
  • Transactional Information: When purchasing paid services, transactions are processed through third-party platforms like Google Play or the Apple App Store. Prilog does not directly collect your name or credit card information.
  • Communications with Us: You may also provide us with information when you provide us feedback or communicate with our customer support about a support question.

Information We Collect Automatically

  • Log information: We collect information that web browsers, mobile devices, and servers typically make available, including the browser type, IP address, unique device identifiers, language preferences, date and time of access, operating system, network information, and predefined error codes and messages.
  • Device and Usage Information: We collect device-related information such as the type of device you are using, your wireless carrier, device ID, service usage patterns, locale, and storage capacity.
  • Location Information: We may determine the approximate location of your device from your IP address.

Information We Collect from Other Sources

  • Third Party Account Information: When you connect an account from another service we typically get some basic information about your account with them.

How We Use the Information We Collect

We use your personal information to:

  • Provide you with Services and customer support;
  • Respond to your requests, resolve disputes, and/or troubleshoot problems;
  • Improve the Services and personalize your experience;
  • Communicate with you about the Services;
  • Detect, investigate, and help prevent security incidents and other malicious activity;
  • Comply with our legal and financial obligations.

Prilog primarily communicates with users through in-app notifications. For individual inquiries, we use the email listed under "How to Reach Us".

How We Share Information

We share information about you in limited circumstances, and with appropriate safeguards:

  • Third Party Vendors: We may share information with third-party vendors who help us provide our Services.
  • Subsidiaries: We may disclose information to affiliates, who must honor this Privacy Policy.
  • Business Transfers: In connection with any merger or sale of company assets, user information may be transferred.
  • Legal Obligations: We may disclose information if necessary for dispute resolution, legal compliance, or protection of rights.
  • With Your Consent: We may share information with your consent or at your direction.

Anonymous Information

We reserve the right to disclose anonymous information publicly without restriction.

How Long We Keep Information

We generally discard information about you when it's no longer needed for the purposes described in "How We Use the Information We Collect" and we're not legally required to keep it.

When you delete the Prilog app, all your journal entries are immediately deleted from your device. Any synchronized journals must be manually cleared from your cloud account.

Security

While no online service is 100% secure, we work very hard to protect information about you against unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction. Journal data is encrypted on your device, and end-to-end encryption is applied during synchronization.

Your Choices

  • Limit/Update Information: You can review, change, and/or delete certain personal information.
  • Delete the App: You can stop all collection of information by uninstalling the App.
  • Opt out of marketing: You may opt out of receiving promotional communications.
  • Reject cookies: You can set your browser to remove or reject cookies.
  • Opt out of analytics: You can do this through your app settings.
